HEADROOM is an arts and culture Web3 magazine celebrating art and artists across the metaverse. It gives voice to the global creators – glitch, trash, generative, VR, conceptual – who populate the wild frontier of cryptoart. As MONDO 2000 did in the late 1990s and early 2000s, HEADROOM aspires to showcase, amplify and contribute to this still-nascent, defining movement in the timeline of culture and technology. In the process it serves as a live document of this fast-evolving world.
We have done a lot of work on our MVP over the last couple of years, but need funding to complete development and launch. To that end, HEADROOM has submitted for a $100,000 award from Arts3 Foundation on Decentralized Pictures (DCP). DCP is a nonprofit democratic fund and opportunity pool co-founded by American Zoetrope, the independent film company founded by Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas.
If we win, we will be able to complete and soft launch HEADROOM, starting with our first issue, which features GLITCH artists. We will also be able to kickstart production on future issues, including commissioning artists and writers.
The completion of HEADROOM will also allow us to complete infrastructure on The Platform (our underlying open-source, co-operative Web3 publishing platform) so that artists and creators can launch their own publications – a whole new paradigm for decentralised, creator-owned publishing.
To make it across the first threshold for this award, we need to show that we have a community who wants this to happen. That’s where you come in. Voting for us on DCPs website requires a few steps but should take less than 10 minutes.
To make the process easier, use a laptop or desktop computer rather than a mobile device.

“Headroom has been in development for some time and remains compelling and culturally important. It's also run and curated by some of the top folks in the field, with roots and legacy in some of the most seminal publications of the modern/ postmodern era.
