ABOUT ME

My creative practice is based on experimentation with emerging digital technologies.

I enjoy chance processes, and often mash up multiple artmaking tools within single works. These include VR sculpting/painting, blockchain-based programmable art, AI/neural network style transfer, digital painting & drawing, geolocation, augmented reality, animation, photography, video, and print.

My work often expresses dreams and states of consciousness, and my style has been described as surreal and organically abstract, often bordering on psychedelic. My approach is playful, and I’m collaboratively oriented. I’m particularly interested in art as a catalyst for innovation, cooperation and building sustainable communities and economies.

I'm also experienced in using blockchain technology as a platform for exhibition, archiving, and events – as well as an artistic medium in its own right.

Most recently I’ve been exploring and incorporating movement – on rollerskates and off – as part of my practice.

EXPERIENCE

Recent areas of focus have included:

Creative facilitation, teaching digital artmaking tools. I work with students from ages 11 to 70, often in underserved communities, in a variety of contexts and tackling issues important to them. I’m passionate about creating safe and inspiring spaces for people to discover and develop their creative voices and skills.

Public art – contributing artist and core team member in site-specific town-scale multimedia, mixed-reality public art projects, produced in collaboration with teams of creative technologists and artists.

Collective art projects that explore the possibilities of such emerging technologies as blockchain and shared-reality ā€œmetaverseā€ platforms and simultaneous art-creation tools like Tagtool.

Solo creative practice playfully exploring the possibilities of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality, while contemplating the dynamic relationships between human consciousness, technology and the environment.

PUBLIC ART PROJECTS

>> 11THOUR experimental art festival (2019)

// Large-scale projection artist, festival co-founder, co-curator & producer

11THOUR was a pop-up festival of art, light + sound bringing together architecture heritage with experimental arts for the community of King's Lynn. For one night only, we occupied King’s Lynn’s heritage buildings and public spaces with large-scale projections, light sculptures, street performers, rock and pop bands, short films, experimental music performances and more. I served on the initiating team, co-curated the festival, produced the music programming at Ferry Lane Social Club, and contributed large-scale projections that adorned St Nicholas’ Chapel and King’s Lynn Minster.
